Taylor Park Colorado

I am looking for as many tracks for the Taylor Park Colorado area that I can find.  I recently purchased the funtreks book for that area that looks pretty sweet.  You can download the waypoints that go along with the book which is nice.  I would love the actual track data for it if it exists,  or any track data I can find.  Also,  any tips for a first timer to that area would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for you time.

I and about 20 friends are heading to Taylor Park in Sept and I have been collecting GPS tracks and have all of them.  These are tracks that I have found on various forums, etc.  They have all been distributed freely and non are copy righted to my knowledge.

I think there are 64 tracks and they have all been cleaned up with no back tracking.  The ones that are in the Charles Wells book have been color coded per his scheme.

I am also making a transparent map for Garmin GPS'rs.  This loads onto you GPS'r like any map.  This way you have all of the tracks showing at once.  These maps work well on Garmin Nuvi's that won't handle tracks.

I am finishing up the map this weekend and will publish link where you can download it.  It is a self installing exe file that most emails block.

WOW!!!  This looks awesome!!  I can't thank you enough!! There are a ton of tracks here!!!   Looks like almost all of them in the Funtreks book.  Do you think they were all ATV type machines making these tracks?  I'm assuming so.  Just curious if any of the tracks you found were from a motorcylce or single track type trails.  Looks like mostly atv trails.  Anyway, thanks again for all the data!  I really really really appreciate it.  Have fun in September.

I got a lot of the tracks from TrailDamage, IntepidsXJ’s, offroadinghome, and from some Google Earth files.  You can extract the GPS track from Google Earth files.  I cleaned up all of the tracks by deleting all back tracks and segments under 10 ft.  This site requires you to make 5 post before you can post any links.  When I have 5 I will post some of the links.

I have also made a transparent map of all the tracks that you can load onto your GPSr.  This is the best way and it is the only way to put tracks on a Nuvi.  Several guys in my club are now using Nuvi’s because of the large screen.  I make maps of all the places we ride.  I have one for the West Virginia Outlaw trails along with about 70 tracks.

I am currently in China until the end of August and the commies are blocking my usual file sharing site where I share the files.  The maps are self installing .exe files and cannot be emailed.  When I find a way to share from over here I will let you know where you can get them.

Norseman, where do you live in Texas.  My son just graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from NCSU and move from NC to Abilene to take a job.  I was in Abilene 3 weeks ago helping him move.

I think I need one more post before I can post links.

I actually live in the Dallas Ft. Worth area. (Lewisville Tx)  I've been to Abilene one time since I've lived here.  I'm originally from Minnesota.  I have some track data for a few of the parks here in Texas and one in Oklahoma if you are ever in need of them.  Not quite the same as Colorado riding but not bad either.  What kind of machine do you ride?  I've got a Grizzly 700 myself and have been very happy with it.  I'm really pumped about our trip to Taylor Park in August and can't wait!!  The trails you shared with me will help tremendously.  I will most likely just load the tracks and waypoints right into the gps.  I have the Garmin 60csx.

Thanks again.

Thanks, BobT for the .zip file.  I used the portion to get to Aspen for a visit to Taylor this weekend.  Unfortunately, my Garmin 76S only holds 10 tracks then shows memory full, so maybe time to get a new GPS.
