Where to ride
07/27/10 at 15:38:07

I am looking for a new place to ride. I have ridden around the Breckenridge, Montizuma, Keystone area for several years so I have ridden all of the popular trails like Red cone, Webster pass, Radical hill. I love these trails because of the high elevation views so I am looking for something similar but in a new location. I see that there are several trails in the Buena Vista area but the elevation doesnt seem as high in this area. I will be out in September spending a week riding and like average day rides to be around 50 miles long preferable in a loop so that I dont have to back track, any suggestions?

St Elmo. Tincup Pass is 12,400. Right now Hancock is closed to a loop. Antero Mt is over 1, 400, but not sure exactly how high you can ride. 1/4 mile hike to the top of Mt Antero which is over 13,000. Nice views. Look up    http://www.traildamage.com/  Put in Antero, Tincup, and hancock passes. They have some awesome pics.
At first when I saw this site it was like, Oh s--t! The name says it all, anti multi user bashin site. But its a great trail site.

Antero trail stops at 13,800 feet, or 13,821 according to the GPS,  You can hike the rest of the way to 14,269 feet.  American Flag Mountain is in the 12,000 foot range, and views are awesome.

Pick up a guide book for Taylor Park, think theres a post here thats pegged to top, has coupons in it.

We still ride Red Cone (a must!) but on last year's annual trek from WI we also went out to BV/TP.  Antero is much higher.  Took a spooky ride on the Timberline trail above the campgound at Mirror Lake.....extra expert only!  Iron Chest was very technical.  In 8 days we head out again!  We're going a little further west to try some of the Crested Butte area trails.
